Our answer obviously varies based on the deliverables selected by each couple and the time of year captured, but the short answer is – far longer than you’d expect. Within your 6 month delivery window, we spend typically 3-4 weeks on our base and highlight film packaging and upwards of 8-10 weeks on our longer documentary film packaging.
We begin by uploading all of your wedding day content to our software and editing programs. We then spend hours to days culling through your data spread throughout as little as 100 clips to as many as 300 clips. It’s important to remember that we’re collecting data from up to 5 cameras and 6 audio sources on a wedding day.
Once all of the data is sorted, we match the audio to the visuals (because no one likes when the audio isn’t syncing with the visual on tv, right?).
The next step is storyline planning. We do not use “template” films, but instead develop each of our films based on your own individual story (regardless of highlight or documentary film selection). We tailor every second of your film to what is most important to you (based on your shot list) and what you want to remember most. Because of that, no two films are alike. The storyline process involves hours of cutting apart footage and stitching it together to make a memorable film.
Once the storyline is complete, we spend hours adding audio, music, and sound design. This is also where we begin color grading your film. We capture our footage in Log, which presents the data in a grey hue to preserve the natural colors or dynamic range. Without color grading, your film would remain in a grey hue state, with very little vibrant color.
After reviewing the completed film, several times, we export and deliver the final product to you in hopes that you’ll love it as much as we do!
